We are a non-profit association based in Vechta, Germany that provides information and support for the Muyenga Clinic in Kampala, Uganda in addition to provision of medical care in the near future. At the heart of this project are Dr. Frauke & Dr. Mike Kawooya, two committed medical doctors who have dedicated their work to improve medical care in Uganda. Their expertise comprises orthopedic surgery and general pediatric care, including children with special needs.
Our goal is to improve diagnosis and therapy of conditions that would inevitably lead to disability and be an immense burden for families and the patients. Especially for children with special needs, who often need ongoing medication/ treatment, we aim to establish sponsorships in the near future. Furthermore there will be a free outpatient clinic for children once a week for families with poor resources.
We also aim to share our expertise with young doctors in training from Uganda to extend their knowledge and provide better care for people in Uganda in the future.
At present we are very excited to announce that the first section of the construction is completed and medical care is about to be started. There are still many helping hands needed and special equipment has to be set up to ensure a safe working environment, e.g. a solar-panel-system and a water well in order to be independent of the local supply.
Transfer of donations from Germany to Uganda is supervised by the kind support of Caritas Uganda to ensure that funds will be used for these means only.
